About The Club

Boston Mountain Bears is a social organization for gay and bisexual men who are ‘bearish’ and those who admire them. So what is a bear? It’s partly attitude, but some physical characteristics often associated with bears are facial hair, body hair, and or generally larger, stocky, or more robust males. The best explanation is that bears have a ‘cuddly demeanor followed by a cuddly body.’ A bear doesn't have to be any physical type, being a bear is more about not conforming to the gay stereotype. Those who like bears are warmly accepted by other bears. So if you like bears, you’re a bear too! Bears are often distinguished by a relaxed, accepting nature, and quick to hug in greetings and other gregarious encounters.

Boston Mountain Bears exists to provide social opportunities for bears and their guests in Eastern Oklahoma to Northwest Arkansas and beyond. Club events and outings are planned by the membership to meet the interests of all members through the scheduling of diverse activities, sometimes in conjunction with other bear groups.

Boston Mountain Bears had it's first meeting Sunday February 10th 2008 with 9 attendees. We have no political agenda, but we do have a basic direction and that is to organize bears in the region to meet and have fun getting to know each other. The privacy and dignity of club members are always respected.

Boston Mountain Bears will have a governing board of 5 volunteers to run the calendar of events.
